Visiting our son this weekend. He is at USC. So we heard that Ruth's Chris has opened. Taking him there one night. Any suggestions for another good meal? Thanks!

I third the Motor Supply rec. When I was working in Orangeburg, SC (Yuck!) I used to drive 50 miles one way for Sunday brunch at Motor Supply. Great food and very friendly staff.

Also like Gervais and Vine for tapas. Nice wine selection by the glass.

Sounds like I should go to Motor Supply. It will be on Sunday night. Do you think I should make a reservation? Or can you just walk in and get a table?

Don't know. I'd give 'em a jingle. 803.256.6687 Oh, they use Open Table too.

Motor Supply Bistro is a good choice. On Gervais around the corner from Ruth's. Reservations strongly suggested.

I second the Captain's suggestion - Motor Supply is excellent - we just had a great meal there this weekend and I will be visiting again for lunch tomorrow. Very creative. Also, Garibaldi's has a lot of good choices and you might try Mr. Friendly's - they are both in the 5 points area. Gervais and Vine is also a good spot - tapas, so you can get a lot of different things. These are all places that I think of as pretty casual, but the food is great. If you want to go very casual, let us know ... we can all chime in on some great cheap eats too.
