purchasing live lobster

Hello...in Los Angeles I have only purchased live lobsters shipped overnight from Maine and have had very good luck, but because of the cost of shipping (especially for Saturday delivery) am now thinking of giving the local markets a try. My first choice would be Santa Monica Seafood (they say they get deliveries from Maine every two days). Do you have any input on SMS or any other Markets for live lobster? By the way, only looking to purchase four lobsters or so, in the 1.5 to 2 pound range.

Thank you.

You may want to check your local 99 Ranch Market to see if they have live lobsters.

Russkar hit the nail on the head. Great copious quantities of live lobster at rock bottom prices. And the trip downtown gives lobster consumption the sense of occasion it deserves.

We buy at Santa Monica Seafood. Last little fella was a 2 pounder last weekend. Mighty tasty.

I have purchased live Maine lobsters from SM Seafood for years & have never been dissapointed...they are alive & kicking!

I bought very fine lobster at the Bristol Farms on Beverly recently. It made wonder at all the not-very-good lobster you are served. I think, too, that this is the best season for it.
