Over the weekend my boyfriend and I went to Phils BBQ and well it was not as good as all the reviews put it out to be, I had the whole white chiken meal and the the chiken was dry, then I wanted more BBQ sauce we where charged extra.. It's good but not incredible well for our taste...So any recommendations??

You should specify "San Diego" in the subject line, since the California board also applies to Sacramento, Monterey, Fresno, Bakersfield, El Centro, Lee Vining, etc. :)

If you search for BBQ in San Diego on this board, you will find a lot of arguing, with the general consensus being that hardly is a specialty in the area. With that being said, if you favor a particular style of BBQ (Carolina, Texas, etc.) you might want to specify that, so that people can focus their responses.

There was a recent thread on wings - if you search you should turn it up. I don't think BBQ and wings are synonymous - they generally are different entities.

You might want to try Huffmans BBQ. They are an old institution in San Diego, they are prety much a take out place, with one or two picnic tables inside.

They have a pretty heavy combo plate that includes, beef and pork ribs and hot links, all served on white bread.

Their sides are good too, which include greens and the like.

      Good Luck.

2nd Huffman's, and add Betty Jean's to the list.
