What's a good dinner option near MoMA, midweek?
Need some chowhound help --
I'm hardly ever up in midtown - but I'm looking for a place for dinner, midweek, after the MoMA. Taking a friend who may not be totally comfortable in a stiff, white table cloth establishment, but we want good, tasty food. Doesn't need to be a scene. Entrees in the $26 - 36 range is ok. Cheaper is fine too, just don't know if it's findable in the 'hood.
I've been to the back bar area of the new Aquavit and that's my fall back. I've never the dining room there - thoughts? too formal?
Been to Cafe Gray, love it -- but only drinks and appetizers, menu seems a little pricey for what it is. But I'm open to dining there... with a strong reco.
Also, anyone been to the Modern?
Opinions are welcomed! And eagerly awaited. Thanks!
