I love Lyndell's in the Spring (!)

I'm not a huge Lyndell's fan, but I'm really enjoying them this spring.

They have little shamrock-shaped sugar cookies right now, sprinkled with green sugar, that are a lovely example of "do a simple thing well." Just-brown on all the edges; fine crumb; sweet and buttery; sprinkled with crunchy green sugar. Sure, you could do sugar cookies at home, and usually I'd recommend that. But if your oven has hot spots, you won't get this lovely, consistent browning on the edges.

I am also craving the Hot Cross Buns. Best in my life - yeasty dough; a satisfying proportion of fruit goodies within (more than just currants); and zap-sweet icing that mixes with the dough as you eat. I think that awesome is listed as an ingredients, but I haven't asked.

Sadly, the eclairs continue to sog in the display case, filled with meh pastry cream. Can't have everything.

    1. Thank you so much for posting this! I love Lyndell's hot cross buns and ate tons of them last year, but had completely forgotten about them. I'll need to hurry up and get over there for some before Easter is over... They are by far the best I've ever had.

      1. My dad used to work at Lyndell's back in the early 80's and he used to bring home many goodies (including the half-moons) and I can personally attest that because of this, I gained at least 10 lbs thanks to this.
