The Cupcakery

  • 8

So did anyone visit the new cupcake store in town? any thoughts?

the cupcakes were okay (some were granular frosting and some were buttercream) but i was disappointed that they have very few of the flavours that they had listed on the site.

from the site;
Back to Basics - Vanilla Cake w/Creamy Chocolate Buttercream
Principessa - Classic Vanilla Cake frosted with Pink Vanilla Buttercream
Amaretto Kisses - Moist Yellow Cake w/Amaretto Icing
Let's Be Berry - Vanilla Cake filled with Berries and topped with Lemon Buttercream
White Wonderland - Fluffy White Cake topped w/White Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting
Lemon Popp - Moist Lemon Poppy Seed Cake topped with Lemon Frosting
Orange Glow - Moist Chocolate Cake topped with Orange Frosting
After Eight - Rich Chocolate Cake Frosted with Mint Icing
PB & C - Rich Chocolate Cake smothered w/ Peanut Butter Icing
Crème du Cupcake - Classic Yellow Cake, filled with vanilla crème topped with chocolate fudge
Goin' Bananas - Banana Cake loaded with Butterscotch Chips topped with creamy Caramel Frosting
Better than *#@ - Rich Chocolate Cake topped with smooth Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

They had 6 varieties in store (this was their launch day fyi), and in that i only saw the principessa, the pb&C, and creme du cupcake. Didn't find any banana cake, lemon poppy seed cakes or any of the other ones from above.

the pb cupcake was awesome.

  1. Hmmm... PB cupcake sounds good. It would be interesting to compare to the ones they have at Salvador Darling on Queen West. Chocolate cake, pb frosting and covered in chopped peanuts. And at $1.25, definitely the best deal in town.

    1. I'm a fan of Babycakes Cupcakes -- they are sold out of the Kubo Radio on Queen East in Leslieville. www.babycakescupcakes.ca
The red velvet cupcake is decadent....

Do they only deliver? If so, what is their minimum and how much do they charge? If you know I would appreciate it.

The Best red velvet cupcake i've had so far was at Swirls. I keep hearing that Kubo is hit or miss depending on the day you go.

They're in Toronto and do deliver.

        2. The Cupcakery is awesome! I agree that (even months after launch) their selection can be limited...I was in on Saturday afternoon and they had only four of their normal six flavours on display. (Hello, people, beautiful afternoon = foot traffic! ) Still, their cupcakes are very, very good, as well as inventive. I have better luck with the vanilla-based ones than with the chocolate. Having eaten many expensive cupcakes in the city (I couldn't even finish one from Dufflet), this place is a gem. Hope it lasts!

I'm not sure they need foot traffic. I placed an order last week and from the sounds of it, they were going crazy with business. I had them delivered today for a shower this evening. They look beautiful and I think everyone will be pleased. I'll let you know.
