Hastings on Hudson - Quick Update

The folks at Comfort will open Comfort Lounge across the street on Warburton where Magical Arts Center used to be. They said it'll be slightly more upscale and maybe provide a bit of night life in the village. I hope they succeed since Hastings is dead after 8PM. It's scheduled to open late Spring/early Summer.

Also the defunct Bloom location now has 2 signs in the window for Blue Moon Mexican Cafe. The reviews here have been horrible for other Blue Moon locations so I'm not excited at all. But at least the that stretch of Main street will be alive again.

Very excited about Comfort Lounge!!! Great food/ great service/ great owner. Bloom restaurant was horrible, and so was the couple that owned it. -very cold, very snobish. Good riddance. If the Mexican Cafe is as good as Tomatillo in Dobbs Ferry, I will be making a visit soon!

Woot! I've been wondering about Comfort Lounge. Thanks for the update!

That space where Bloom used to be is just too big, it seems like. Nothing seems to be able to stay open there. It's a shame because I really liked Bloom- went there for brunch several times and it was always excellent. Hopefully Blue Moon will at least be decent.

The problem with Bloom is that the overreached. They spent a ton on the renovations and had an interesting concept with capable execution, albeit at a high price. They never innovated though, the menu stayed the same and as the didn't plan on a sufficient cushion to build their base, they started cutting the quality. The death spiral soon followed. I expect good things out of the comfort louge, those folks know how to cook (a tragic rarity in westchester). Hopefully they keep the price point, quality and experience value proposition in balance and then they are sure to have an enduring winner.
