  1. Well...like I tell New Yorkers....who want NY-style food in PSL....it's probably best to head back up north as everything's always better in NY....That said...I don't think there's NY-Style Chinese in PSL.....I think we've tried every chinese place there is....and we like the take-out place that's in the Publix Plaza at Prima Vista and US1......Beyond that....good luck.....And don't be afraid to go back to NY!! :)

Thanks for the suggestion. Also I never said everythings better in NY. I don't understand why natives in FL get so uppity if anyone says anything about the living situation down here. THE FOOD SUCKS. GET OVER IT. That said, I'm be afraid to go back up north, but for now I'm staying...Sorry

Oh, we're over it! Way over it! Just understand that it gets old..getting told by the abundance of New Yorkers in our area...how great everything is "up north" or "back home"....How they can't find a decent bagel...How they can't find NY-Style Pizza...How bad the water is....So, you can see why we're defensive...especially when it comes to food!! And good food at that!! As I told a nice lady from New York who was complaining about everything imaginable....while waiting in line at the Draft House...."If everything is so great 1200 miles up I95, why are you here??"....And her husband jumped in...."He's right Esther!..He's right!...Quit complaining!!".....South Florida...The 6th Burrough!!

      2. To be honest, I've never heard of NYC style Chinese. Did you mean authentic Chinese?

        I don't understand.

NYC style chinese is pretty well known. It seems to have more taste. Or they use orange duck sauce instead of red.

          1. re: freakerdude

New York style Chinese food is the old style Cantonese food from the 1950s and 1960s before such faux Hunan/Sichuan dishes as kung pao chicken, mu shu pork, General Tso's chicken and hot and sour soup started showing up at Americanized Chinese restaurants. It was semi-authentic in its day, but is decidedly unauthentic by today's standards.

Thanks for the interpretation on the NY-style chinese food.....I've often wondered about the differences...I've always eaten Florida-style chinese food and have been generally pleased with several chinese restaurants that I've been to over the years.....I regularly eat at a Chinese restaurant in Miami...in a neighborhood called "Sweetwater"....and it's run by Chinese folks that were born and raised in Cuba....and speak both Chinese and Cuban fluently!! .....What they produce there is nothing less than fantastic.....So maybe...what we call...."ChUban Food" might be the new rage once it's "discovered" by my NY friends!!

Thanks for the info! There are lots of great chinese food restaurants in Miami but not many in northern Florida like in PSL. That cuban/chinese restaurant sounds fantastic! Tell them to start a restaurant in PSL!!

Its funny, I grew up in S. FL (parents are from NY) but I now live in SW Ontario. There is nothing WORSE than Canadian Chinese food. Ever heard of chicken balls? Yeah, I hadnt either when I moved here. Ick. Anyway, I found a hole in the wall chinese food place in Port Huron, MI( border town). I was so excited by the line " NY style chinese food" on their menu.

Dont even get me started on the horrible pizza and bagels( buns with holes) here.

That's funny! I've never heard of chicken balls and don't think I want to find out what they are.

I actually moved back up north where the winters are unbearable but at least I can get a decent egg roll and authentic duck sauce!

Keep me posted if you find any good chinese restaurants though cuz I visit FLA often!

          2. We are from CT and we have tried everywhere. The one we seem to like with quality ingredients is Golden Chopsticks on Del Rio. A few people recommended them and guess what they are all from Jersey & New York.
