Roma's in Latham is the best local Italian import store; it's not up to NYC standards maybe, but it's well-stocked with imported goods from around the Mediterranean; great sandwiches, and a high-end butcher next door. Other Italian delis are worth checking out; Genoa, in Loudonville, Andy and Sons, on Delaware Ave., the Saratoga Roma's, all come to mind. Cappiello's in Schenectady is the retail store for a cheesemaker, and has an interesting selection of imported products.

You might want to try Cardonna's Deli on Delaware Avenue in Albany. Great deli and they have a butcher there too.
