Anything new in Palm Springs?

My sweet husband and I are taking a long overdue trip WITHOUT KIDS and are looking for a few super special meals. We don't care about expense if it is worth it and we would love to make these dinners last the evening.

What's going on out there in the fine dining scene? We have not spent any time without our daughters (4 and 1 1/2 years old) since the baby was 7 months old. We really want it to be lovely.

If you are in Palm Springs don't miss Zin for great food and wine. The atmosphere is more casual but the food is way above average esp at the $$. They are also open for lunch and had many of the dinner items available. Johannes is another one of my favorites.

Palm Springs proper or surrounding areas (Palm Desert, Indio, Desert Mirage, etc).

The reason I ask is we recently stayed in La Quinta and had dinner in Desert Mirage. On a map it didnt seem that far away, but it took us aroudn 20 minutes each way.
