Grand Lux Cafe- What's Good
Hitting it up tomorrow and would like to know what are the best dishes to get. Dishes that look interesting to me are the short ribs, rustic lasagna, tuscan chicken, sunday night pasta and skirt steak. Please let me know what you think about these and other recs!
I have had the opportunity to eat at Grand Lux Cafe a few times and every instance has been good. It could supplant Houston's as my new favorite Chain Restaurant.
For Lunch the combos are good value. The large salads recommended are:
Seafood Salad(serve Cobb style)
All were sample and all were good.
For Dinner the following have been sampled and recommended
Grilled Pork Chop
Chicken Pot Pie
I ordered the Daily Fish Special of Swordfish for my First Dinner and it was........Ehhhh.....I would not recommend the fish and save that for a better restaurant.
Also the Vietnamese Summer Rolls were fresh out of the fridge and you could taste it, obviously pre-made sometime earlier absorbing not so nice things.

Yeah the chicken and waffles looked awesome but you can only have it on Sundays for brunch until 2. I wound up having the short ribs which were really good, albeit a surprisingly small portion. The red cabbage it came with was awesome and good sweet potatoes. My dad has the steak sandwich and my mom had the Santa Barbara chicken sandwich and both were really good. But the absolute standout was dessert. BEIGNETS! GrEaT!
Overall I think its a really good restaurant. I still like Cheesecake Factory better for what its worth....
I have been to five locations; Chicago, Houston, Vegas, Scottsdale, and Beverly Hills. The last three were like a completely different chain. The food was not nearly up to par, and it definitely should have been excellent like my previous visits.
I always order a salad and the asian chicken is pretty good (cheesecake's dressing is much better though). We also loved the Ceaser salad (whole leaf, not chopped), the calamari, shrimp springrolls, duck dumplings, and southwest egg rolls. The highlight was definitely the Madeira mushroom sauce!
