43rd between 9th and 10th rec?

hungry_fox Mar 14, 2008 04:04 PM

I'm going to a show with my family next saturday on 43rd between 9th and 10th and we need a place for dinner that is within walking distance. If possible lets keep it continental or some form of it; one of them is on weight watchers, another is picky, and please, keep it moderately priced. Otherwise, give me all the suggestions you wonderful chowhounds have!

How about Carmine's in the theatre district...I don't know the exact address but you can find it via google. Family style, italian, great food, very large portions so you can share and not order too many dishes. I would skip dessert and if necessary, get an ice cream cone some where. Have fun.

Check out the menu at Marseille to see if it works for you.

630 Ninth Avenue, New York, NY 10036

You can try the West Bank Cafe on 42nd and 9th, or Chez Josephine, on the S side of 42nd bet 9th and 10th (although it's a little pricier).

West Bank Cafe is more along the lines of what I'm looking for, any other suggestions like it or simply far better than it?

I think West Bank is an excellent restaurant, and if it is along the lines of what you have in mind, imo, you might as well stop looking because there is nothing else really similar in that vicinity.

I like West Bank too and frequently go pre-theater. You can reserve on Opentable too.

I often go to Zuni @ 9th and 43rd for pretheater dinner. The food is competent, the menu is varied, they'll make sure you're out on time, and it's easily Weight Watchers friendly.

I think Marseille is your best choice in that area.

I like Osterio al Doge on 43rd. Think it's between Broadway and 8th. They have fish dishes, and I have been there while on Weight Watchers, so it is a possibility. I love Carmine's, but when you are sharing dishes it is hard on the one who is trying to count points.

Try Basilica @47th and 9th. It is a pleasent Italian place, they have a pre theater special as well.
