So I'm thinking about getting a subscription to this, but I want to try it out first. Only problem is, I can't find it on newsstands anywhere (maybe it's an off-month?).

Instead, I thought I'd ask if anyone here has a subscription and if it is worth it. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the magazine?

So you know, I'm a casual spirits fan, I don't own or work at a bar or anything, but I am really into the history of liquor and the industry in general (new trends, new products, etc.).

Thanks!

Hi bza, I can't speak in an un-biased way about Imbibe, I'm the Circulation Manager (and longtime Chowhound). From your posts, it looks like your in the Boston area; we're sold at the Barnes & Noble in Prudential Center as well as every Borders in the area. I'll let others speak to the pros & cons, but you can also read articles (without the pictures & layout) online:

Thanks, I am indeed in the Boston area, and I will go to a Borders as soon as I can!

Have you changed your website to include stories from back issues? For some reason I don't remember seeing them there when I checked out the site a few months back, and it is very helpful to be able to sample.

If you're willing to do a little work, it's a great magazine. Sometimes ingredients can be hard to find but one of the benefits is that they often teach you how to make your own. Many are surprisingly easy.
And it's drinks, all drinks, so there is a lot of discussion and info re: coffee, teas, etc. Not just cocktails.
I like the magazine a lot and it's in my 'keeper pile'.
