Broward to Boca, need place for Mom's birthday this Sunday!
Visiting my snowbird mother in Deerfield, she turns 70 this Sunday. She enjoys restaurants but is not an overly-adventurous eater and would not appreciate anything expensive. We have a car and will be anywhere from 2-6 people. Any ideas? What about La Barraca in Hollywood?
Try Sea Watch in Laderdale by the Sea, just north of Commercial on A-1-A - beautiful setting - and I believe they take reservations. Lots of good things on the menu.
If you are looking for good food at a reasonable price I would say to head to Boynton Beach and Snappers. Get there early and order any of the seafood. I've been there with family many times and it's always excellent! The food is fresh, the portions are plentiful and the price is not too high. It's just north of Boynton Beach Blvd on Military Trail. Not much further than Lauderdale.
Couldn't wait until Sunday, starting celebrating tonight. Headed north to Boynton and ate at Snappers! Mom loved everything - went shopping nearby during the 45 minute wait for a table. Service was great, we boxed the leftovers. Definitely a "older crowd", food a little salty for my taste (had the lobster bisque - slightly on the salty side, and the wild halibut - extremely salty), mom's stuffed scrod was great. Nonetheless, a good place - thanks for the suggestion!
Now to find something for tomorrow & birthday Sunday!
