Best food near space needle?

Hi Everyone,

i am in town with some friends until Saturday. Tomorrow we want to visit the space needle and underground tour. What's the best, inexpensive place to eat around or between those areas? I have been a chowhounder for a while and love great food of any ethnicity/type but before to find something that is just best in Seattle. I usually love hole-in the wall places where the food is phenomenal though other things can be compromised.

Thanks in advance.

  1. Probably too late....but if on a week day Salumi. On the weekend stop at Matt's in the Market or one of the many other choices in the market.

    1. Between and/or near those two points you have all of downtown seattle, including belltown, the market, the ID, plus queen anne, south lake union and capitol hill.

If you're looking for ethinc hole-in-the-walls, go to the ID (which is close to pioneer square where the underground tour is). Otherwise, I'd go to the baguette box on pine in capitol hill. It's just yummy.

      1. BASED ON YOUR PLANS I WOULD JUST HEAD STRAIGHT TO PIKE PLACE MARKET AND GRAZE YOUR WAY THRU BOTH THE MAIN MARKET AND THE MARKET STALLS ACROSS THE STREET. IT IS TRUE SEATTLE.

          A little spendy, but good:
I second the motion for fresh alder-smoked salmon from Pure Food.
          El Puerco Lloron.
get the carne asada taquitos and some homemade tortillas.

        2. There's a great Indian place on Queen Anne Ave, RIGHT by the needle. It's called Roti. Everything Ive tried there has been delicious. That being said, I should say, I am not very fond of the buffet.

          1. Wasabi BIstro - some of the best sushi I've enjoyed on this dear planet :)

Agree with Wasabi Bistro -- I am addicted to their agedashi tofu.

That said, the recommendation to graze through the market is good. Check ou Beecher's Cheese and get a slice of pizza at DeLaurenti's

Going back to the Space Needle question - a place that has good burgers AND that is really close is Sport (sportsbar). It's across from the EMP, and they have some other so-so items, but the burger is excellent.
