Where to get an Easter ham in Chelsea or Midtown East?

I need an Easter ham for a large group (15-20), so I'm not happy about paying Whole Foods prices. Any suggestions on where to shop for a nice ham for Easter? I'm not very familiar with the local butcher shops, so any and all suggestions welcome.

You could get a fresh ham at Western Beef, but if you're looking for something cured, I think your best bet would actually be at one of the Polish butchers in the East Village.

If you want cheap, try East Village Meat Market on 2nd Ave (@ 10th St). They have home-made traditional ham and the price is probably the cheapest among local butcher shops.

        Try Chelsea Court Meat Market 166 9th Ave @ 20th St. 212-243-3151.
Anthony knows his stuff & will get you what you want if he doesn't already have it. Always great product & good advice.

That's a wonderful butcher - only go occasionally, but have really been impressed.

There's also the butcher on 1st Ave. & 54th St. - I want to say Litchiks, but that sounds too much like Chick Lit to be correct!
