Best Chicken Parmigiana
Looking for the best Chicken Parm in Newton, Needham, Dedham, West Roxbury area. I have had it at Spring Street Cafe, Brickhouse Cafe, Sweet Basil, Bertucci's, etc. Criteria should be fairly thin cutlets, crispy fried, and a pleasant, homemade sauce. Looking for something new and perhaps, better. Haven't really tried any of the several restaurants in Newton.

If you're flexible on geography, I like the chicken parm from Vinny's at Night in Somerville. I don't think it's all that thin, but it is crispy with good homemade sauce. You can get it with a side of their homemade mafalde and eat for days on the one meal.

Just avoid the Chicken Parm sandwich there. Unless you get the cutlets when they are first made they sit in a chafing tray and become like cardboard. I have had two of the worst chicken parm sandwiches ever there.

What do you think of the places you have tried?
I think that the one at Fiorella's in Newton might fit your bill, and it's reasonably priced.

I agree....the chicken parm at Fiorella's is quite good. It's pretty straightforward, but a decent price, and I've sampled it 2 or 3 times and have never been disappointed. (If you're there with someone who's willing to share, encourage them to order the scallops lemoncello.....yum!)

Fiorella's has delicious chicken parmesan and they also make a great baby clam dish over linguini. The family that runs it is very nice and always makes you feel welcome. It's easy on the pocketbook too.

I've now been to Fiorella's twice for the chicken parm. The first time I thought it was OK: too thick and the breading wasn't crisp, but the sauce was good. Tonight, I had the worst piece of chicken I can remember. It was tough and stringy--so bad that even cutting it across the grain into small pieces didn't help.

i have no idea if they are even there anymore but The Blue Moon in Lynn used to do a Nice Italian Veal Cutlet. and from what i remember you have to ask for that way, if you don't you get a veal patty thing.

I'd go for Vinnie's in Sommerville or Alia in Winthrop, both have excellent suace and flavor.

I am a few days late in replying but the chicken parm. at Delfino's in Roslindale is wonderful.

Doh! I was gonna say Delfino's!!! I tend to find chicken parm to be one of the last things I would order except at Delfino's, their sauce is simple and lovely, and the chicken is substantial in size, you will have leftovers.

Comella's is okay but I think that Carlos Cucina in Allston is the tops in the Chicken Parm story.

My impression with Comella's is that it is not cooked to order and Chicken Parm at its best IMO should be fried crisp; if it's been pre-cooked and packaged for reheating, it just cannot be the same. I haven't been to Delfino's in a couple years but I think I should revisit.

I was hoping someone would bring up Carlos- been one of my absolute favorite Italian spots for years-I havent had their Chicken Parm- but I cannot imagine anything there being bad!

Worth the trip thru the Ted tunnel: D'Parma in Winthrop. While you wait for your chick parm, try the stuffed mushrooms. And, byob.

I nominate O'Hara's in Newton Highlands. They make a great chicken parm as well as great steak tips, shepherd's pie and everything else on the menu!
