Pizza in Santa Monica?

fatassasian Mar 13, 2008 11:33 AM

Any good pizza delivery places in Santa Monica (near 17th & Montana)? Willing to pick it up if it's close by.
Trying to stay away from pizza that is uber-greasy. But, at the same time, it doesn't need to be super-healthy.
Definitely looking to do take-out or delivery. Not looking to sit down in the restaurant.

I like Santa Monica Pizza Kitchen on Wilshire and 14th.

I second SM Pizza Kitchen at 16th and Wilshire.

When you're in Westwood, try Enzo's on Weyburn, accros from the Mann Bruin. www.enzospizzeriawestwood.com. Great homemade, made-to-order calzones in 20 minutes: call ahead, then you can pick up at the curb.

Don't know about "uber-greasy", but Ocean Ave. has the best NY style pizza's in the area. Both Joe's and Richie Palmers, 1 1/2 blocks from each other, serve up great pizza, and they both deliver. Others on the board will point you to other favorites, but these are definitely mine.

My favorite right now would be Richie Palmers!

Has anyone tried Patty's Pizza? If so, have you tried the Take-n-bake? Good?

I like Patty's, but I might get slammed for that.

If you are going for simple ingredients, I'd go with Joe's, and from reports, Richie Palmers.

If you are looking for more California type ingredients, I would try Abbot's Pizza Company on Pico and 18th.
It's okay to good but if you have the hankering for something like a spicy chicken pizza or a greek salad pizza, it mostly satisfies.

I also like Pattys. I take it home and bake it--it's $1 cheaper and you get it super fresh. My favorite is the spinach jubilee. It's EXCELLENT.

I also pick up pizza sometimes from Spumoni, it's okay, but all things considered I'd go to Pattys. I live at 19th and Montana, so I've checked out all of the local joints near your location.

Sounds like Abbot's is the place for you. They deliver, it's my favorite.

Joe's doesn't deliver, and something gets lost in the translation when you pick it up and get it home.

Haven't tried Richie's yet, but I did love Mulberry Street's pizza.

Pizza at Rosti is also really good, better than Patti's, to me.

When did Joe's stop delivering? Last I checked, they would deliver up to 26th Street.

Joe's on Broadway will probably deliver to you. Their pizza isn't oily at all, sometimes to my frustration. Beyond that, Abbot's (anything with olive pesto, though it's oily) and Dagwood's (crust extra thin and extra crispy) both do excellent pizza.
