Tahini still ok?

I have some tahnini kicking around the fridge from the last time I made hummus (its about six months old). Is smell a good indicatation that it is still ok to use (I know it can go rancid)? Mine smells strongly of sesame seeds, so I assume its ok.

    I usually follow the rule that if it smells fine, it should be fine.

      The oils can become rancid. Refrigeration will help to slow it but again use the nose test. If it smells bad toss it. If not use it.

        I've used older with no problem at all, health-wise or taste-wise.

          I go with the rancid oil smell rule - if it has a funny smell you'll know. I think six months in the fridge should be fne.
