South Bay Pizza and Bagel Recommendations

I've been living here for 3 years. After living 4 years in NY, I got accustomed to great pizza and ridiculously good bagels.

I've yet to find a great pizza in this area.. sure, the occasional Round Table pizza is tasty... and, if I'm hungry enough, a Papa John's pizza... but, does anyone know of any great pizza in the South Bay? I live in the Torrance area and value easy parking. ;) I prefer NY style pizza over Chicago style.

Bagelwise... I was going to Lox of Bagels (Crenshaw) but I felt it was turning into more of a "round roll" over time. I, then, discovered the Bagel Factory on Hawthorne Blvd... and, while I'm risking the lines getting any longer than they already are, I have to say that I'm pleased with their bagels. Nice chewy crust, tender innards. ;) I'm not entirely shocked since this place keeps Kosher... so, you know someone with "some bagels in their blood" is behind the recipes.

However, does anyone have any other bagel places they would recommend?

  1. Definitely check out Valentino's for Brooklyn style pizza. There are 2 locations but the one on Aviation in Mahatta Beach is better since it's the original. Parking at both locations is easy.

    Valentino's Pizza
    975 Aviation Blvd.
    Manhattan Beach

    2. Try the Bagel Factory on the corner of Torrance Blvd and Hawthorne ( oops you already did ) Then try Manhattan Bread and Bagel on Sepulveda in MB my personal 2nd best in the South Bay.. The Bagel Factory's Location on Robertson is the Best in all of L.A. IMHO..

Scardino's on Torrance Blvd. is consistantly good. I also like the "pizza by the slice" place in Hermosa Bch. near Pier and Hermosa Ave. Sorry, can't think of the name right now. Both places are very friendly and make a good pie.
