Sunday Late Afternoon/EarlyEvening Drinks and Apptzrs. Downtown?

madison Mar 12, 2008 01:07 PM

A friend is in town from Australia, I only have Sunday late afternoon/ early evening to spend with him. Considering it may be raining, I really don't want to drive too far from his hotel downtown. However, I would love some quality drinks and good grub. It would be ideal if I could find a place like the Signature Room in Chicago on the 95th floor of the Hancock Building (what an incredible view), but I will settle for anything. Any suggestions?

The New Otani in Little Tokyo. Or whatever it is called now. Great bar on top with good sushi/sashimi/japanese food.

How about the bar on top of the Satndard Hotel?

Then there's the Hotel bel Air

tghere is a bar at the Figueroa Hotel, too

The Westin Bonaventure has a bar as well.

The rooftop of the Standard would be a great place if it's not raining. You also might consider Elevate: http://www.takamisushi.com/ and Blue Velvet.

I want to take my girlfriends there...looks fabulous! It opens at 6 pm, so it may work. Thanks for the tip.

Ciudad doesn't have a view, but it's a fun place for delicious drinks and good appetizers/tapas which are on special on Sunday afternoon/evenings. Also, he probably doesn't get much opportunity for Latin style tapas in Australia.
