Morimoto- what to eat?

My mother is taking my sister and I for dinner to Morimoto for our birthdays on Friday- I've been wanting to go for ages... Anyone have any suggestions on what to get there? thanks

Thanks for all the suggestions- we had an absolutely fabulous meal. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent! My favorites are the lobster fritters/ tuna pizza and the salmon with lemon (the lemon is baked in syrup and water and a small piece of it with the salmon was like an explosion in your mouth) Great way to start my birthday celebrations! Thanks

I really like the duck, duck, duck dish and the surf and turf. For dessert, the tofu cheesecake and the earl grey creme brulee are my picks. Happy birthday!

I actually wasn't that impressed with the famous black cod (found it a little too sweet), but my husband and I loved everything else we tried:

        tuna pizza
        rock shrimp tempura
        lobster fritters
        kobe beef carpaccio
chocolate cake with popcorn ice cream
        kumamoto oysters
tofu "hot and cold" (tofu cheesecake, a tofu souffle and maple ice cream)

My friends recently went and had the sea bass and duck entrees, which they raved about.

        Enjoy!

I don't know if you've been to the new Blue Ribbon yet, but I loved their black cod dish.

Agree with Frankenfood that the tuna tartare is a wonderful presentation, however I question the price given the amount of actual fish you receive (it looks like $30 for a single minced piece of toro.... (great that this appeared on iron chef but come on) did anyone else get this impression?
Do *not* order the japanese appetizer sampler. We found this very poorly executed (many of the proteins were severely overcooked, chewy and flavorless) and upon speaking with the server she admitted that it didn't garner a lot of praise. Spicy crab was a delicious, a simple dish. The rock shrimp tempura (in two separate sauces) I enjoyed as well.

I love this place. Skip the sushi because you can get that anywhere. You should try this app of tuna on a screen that you scrape off with a wooden spoon. There are a lot of inventive things. Lobster fritters, spicy king crab... I think they have a tasting menu, which would be great.

The black cod and sea bass are excellent main dishes, both on the sweet side. Try the oysters for an app. Waiters are knowledgeable and eager to help, so ask a lot of questions! Happy Birthday!
