Guangzhou - Help!

My wife and I are going to be Guangzhou for 24 hours due to a last minute change in our flight home to the US from Vietnam. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm guessing Dim Sum might be a good choice since this is after all Canton.

Thanks in advance.

The Dim Sum at Lei Garden (the same chain from Hong Kong) in Guangzhou is pretty good. I can't remember the address, it is very close to Garden Hotel. You may want to check the details with the concierge.

I'm actually yet to have memorable dim sum n GZ - the best in the PRC i've had is in Shenzhen, which I doubt you'll have time to go to.

But my go-to in GZ is a place that specialises in steamed rice paper rolls ('cheung fun' in cantonese). It's quite famous and still very much a local institution. It's called Yin Ji (or Ngan Gei in Cantonese, approx. means "Silver's" - as in it belongs to a guy called "Silver" - no idea if that's true!)
It's on Shang Xia Jiu Lu (or in canto - 'seung ha gau low', direct translation: "up down nine road"), pretty central, taxi drivers should have no probs getting there, and if you're staying at a hotel, your concierge should be able to help.
