Popovers does anyone serve them anymore?

Fairfield or Westchester? I love them.

I'm fairly certain that what I had at Saltwater Grille in Stamford were popovers. They are FREE, so that should offset the expensive food. They were very good, I thought. Service was very sketchy both times we ate there last summer- one time inattentive, one time outright rude. And don't eat outside at sunset when it's warm unless you'd like to sweat through your clothes.

Restaurant X - Congers which is just across the Western border of Westchester - definitely has them. Not sure about the other Peter Kelly restos but X definitely and they are very good although I'm not obsessive nor an expert on them.

Real good ones at the Old Drover's Inn in Dover Plains in Dutchess County, NY. Unfortunately, it is the best thing they serve.

Although it's more fun if someone else cooks them, they really couldn't be easier to make. Lots of recipes on the net. You can make the batter in the blender.

Totally agree--they're SO easy to make, and you can use reg muffin tins; they just get a bit misshapen.

A wee bit to the north - Jordan Pond House in Acadia National Park in Maine

A bit closer to the south - Popover Cafe on th UWS of Manhattan

I had a lovely lunch at Popover Cafe recently and, of course, the popovers were yummy. It might be worth the trip!

Love this place! Try the eggs benedict in a popover...out of this world!

There is a new golden fox in Troy, NY that serves the original recipe. I don't care for them but those that do, say they are true to the original recipe. Long way to go for a popover....

sorry, closed, popovers must not have been that much of a draw...

The Zodiac restaurant in Neiman Marcus! It's the best thing there imo.

Me 3! I like the popover there. It tastes freshly baked and the strawberry butter is tasty. I think they also come with a small cup of chicken consomme too. All of that is free of charge and I remember their service was pretty good too at Neiman Marcus.

Which Bloomingdales still has a salad bar? I used to love it, but the one in Hackensack closed many years ago.

Bloomingdales in White Plains still has a wonderful salad bar.

Thanks for sharing. I will have to try it one day. Do you guys know what the hours are for the Salad Bar at Bloomie's? I went by the restaurant a few times around 7 PM and it looked like it was closed (maybe it was just really empty?) but I wasn't 100% sure.

Sorry for the late reply, I've been incommunicado the past few weeks. I have only been to Bloomie's for lunch and have been there as late as 4pm. So I only know they are open until at least 4pm.

No problem. I float in and out of this board too. Good to know they are open at least until 4 PM. Maybe I can visit on weekends or during weekdays if I have a day off.

You can get them at BLT Steak at the new Ritz Carlton Hotel in White Plains. Delicious! Read the recent thread here:

frequentdiner: Thanks but do I have to spend and arm and a leg just to get a popover?

Apparently, there are other options. <smile> See other suggestions below...

They were very good there though.

By the way how was the steak? Thanks though, I will learn to make them myself, i used to have them at a special place in westchester that came around and gave you as many as you wanted. It was great!
