JJ's Bistro in London

Had a lovely meal at JJ's Bistro in Byron last night. Started with the daily soup, a tomato, gin and asiago soup, followed by panko-crusted veal in a white wine sauce served over porcini ravioli. Other meals at my table included a spinach, fennel, walnut and blue cheese salad followed by a hearty cioppino, and caesar salad followed by breast of muscovy duck on a sweet potato pancake. Everything I tasted was cooked perfectly.

What I ate last night was one of the best meals I've had in London in the past year. I was surprised that the meal was better than any of my recent meals at Aroma, Garlic's, Auberge du Petit Prince, David's Bistro, Blackfriar's Cafe, Katana Grill, Crave, Michael's on the Thames and Copperfield's.

The service was friendly, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

For continental food, in London, JJ's is my new favourite. If you decide to try it, make sure you make a reservation, as the space is small and it was almost at capacity on a Sunday night.
