I'm a NY foodie in town on business with a group of more provincial mid-westerners. Does anyone have any suggestions for a Restaurant Week place that is interesting, but could also appeal to less adventurous palates. We are staying in Back Bay.
In general, I am not a huge fan of restaurant week menus because they can be very limited and not very representative of the food normally served at a restaurant. However, last year, I ended up going to Pigalle (which I think would probably work for you, but I am guessing they are already booked solid) and EVOO and had much better experiences there than I had had previously at places during RW. Here is a link to a website that is useful because it compiles menus for participating restaurants and for many also easily links to the restaurant's normal menu.
If someplace sounds interesting, give them a call, but be prepared for them not to have tables available at the time you prefer.
Eastern Standard in Kenmore Sq. is only doing restaurant week for lunch, but would really not be much more than RW for dinner unless you ordered the most expensive things on the menu and I think would work well for your needs. They have great cocktails.
