Any good VEGGIE options in Grand Central Market (downtown)??

Hi All,

I wanted to show a friend the downtown Grand Central Market, but I was wondering: Are there any good options for Mexican VEGETARIAN??

I've seen seafood, but not veggie burritos, etc.

Thanks!

I recall one of the stands serving cactus salad.

Thanks! Have to confess, I'm not a big cactus fan. I tried it once at Gueleguetza. Was just okay. But the chile rellenos I like. I'll poke around the bakery.

Wish someone would start doing veggie burritos and tacos... avoacado salads/wraps. I would be there every day when I'm in too-lazy-to-cook mode.

I'm sure you could ask them to just give you a taco/burrito/torta with beans, rice, onions, cilantro and salsa. I'm not saying it'll be good, but it'll fit the veggie criteria.

La Salsa has some veggie options that include avocado, but it's maybe a 10 minute walk from Grand Central and the authenticity of their Mexican food is questionable.

          Good idea.

I actually love La Salsa's fish burrito, and their shrimp salad rocks too!

Agreed! Ana Maria's make a great CR burrito and they are very fresh this time of year during Lent

That's good, because I tried Ana Maria's shrimp, scallop and fish tacos, but was not happy with any of them! I just felt that they did not use the best-quality seafood. The shrimp was dry and tasteless.

Ernie & Dommy: Just curious... is chile relleno deep-fried??

              Thanks!

Too funny, I had a CR burrito for lunch today. Deep friedBeans, rice, onions, cylontro, hot sauce, $5 and if you eat it all you will not need dinner!

Chile rellenos are usually filled with cheese with sides of rice and beans. I think the stall is part of La Adelita Bakery that has the rellenos. The locoro (plant/flower?) & cheese pupusas are good, Salvadoran, not Mexican though.

I don't think they're mexican, but I believe you can get straight cheese pupusas. They take a little while to make, though.
