Smoked Salmon

I just bought some smoked salmon and want to check something.

Doesn't smoked salmon usually have a smooth and silky texture?
The one I bought has a cooked feeling texture, similar to cooked salmon. Is this bad? Or still okay to eat?

The package just says Genuine Scottish Smoked Salmon.

There are two kinds of smoked salmon. Cold smoked is what you are used to. It sounds like you might have a hot smoked salmon. That's what they sell in Grocery Stores in vaccum packs around Christmas here. It's not in the fridge section. It's got more of the texture of cooked salmon. Does that sound right?

The package says thinly sliced smoked salmon.

I usually buy this quite a bit and it has never been this texture. Mine is usually a bit silky. This was in the refrigerated section. Yes, this salmon has more of a texture of cooked salmon, but it is in the same package I always get.

        Think it is okay?
