Where to buy dried smoked sausages in South Bay Area?

I have a visitor from overseas who wants to bring back some sausages... those that can be taken on an airplane. There used to be a Hickory Farms store around here, but they closed down.

Anyone know of a place where I could get them locally?

  1. You can get Spanish style sausages from La Espanola in Harbor City. They make it right there, and distribute through gourmet stores in the US and overseas.

Anything they make is about a million times better than Hickory Farms, but also more expensive. Don't know if you wanted to keep the price down, or if you wanted to send back some really good stuff.

I'm guessing that the OP is looking for something a lot more like the ones at Trader Joe's than La Espanola. Which is a shame because any excuse to visit La Espanola is a good excuse in my book. Their sausage, especially the butifarra, is outstanding.

    2. Trader Joes has had some pretty good sausages. you may want to check them out.

      1. You didn't specify what kind of sausage :-).

There are some darn tasty German 'hunter' sausages available at Alpine Village and Eschbachs. Most Asian markets will have dried Chinese and Vietnamese style sausages, if that floats your visitors boat.
