Studio Restaurant on Church Street

For some time, long-time CBC radio employees have gotten together at a restaurant not far from the former CBC Radio building at 354 Jarvis Street (now National Ballet School property). Appropriately, they call themselves "Club 354", and twice a year they meet, greet and eat at the Studio Restaurant on Church Street at Carlton. I may attend this year, and wonder if you have any tips on the food there. I don't expect gourmet cuisine because that's not the purpose of the gathering, just good luncheon grub. Anyone been there?

I haven't been there in many, many years. I remember it as an inexpensive diner kind of place serving, primarily, the people living in a subsidized residence upstairs.

I have several times when I lived down the street although not in the last year.

Once you get there you may think it a question not worth asking. They serve greasy spoon comfort food of the sort that makes one nostalgic. Pick your favourite of that type and order away. They don't do a great job, but certainly they're okay. It's packed constantly for a reason.
