Francesca's in Bedford Hills

Has anyone been here? It opened where Spasso's was.

  1. My wife and I went yesterday for lunch. Mediocre at best. We started with caesar salad, the dressing was too heavy on anchovy flavor. My wife had a ravioli with red sauce. She described the pasta as thick, doughy and undercooked. I had linguini with white clam sauce. It came with roughly a dozen clams in the shell which would have been fine had they not then dumped roughly a tuna can sized amount of chopped clams on top of that. We didn't bother staying for dessert.

Thanks...for saving me from a bad meal!

    2. I second that opinion. Went there a few weeks ago on a Saturday night and it was packed. Couldn't understand why. The food was fair, but I guess it has a loyal
following when it was across the street as Al Fresco. Didn't try the pizza but it appears from looking at all the familes that were there, that's what's popular.

Isn't Al Fresco still there? They've owned both places for a long time.

The owner closed Al Fresco to open this place. He owned (or owned the lease?) on both properties. If you ask me, he never knew a good thing when he had it...was at its best as a neighborhood pizza-and-pasta place but he keeps trying to go upscale. Sounds like it's not working. Yet the parking lot is packed most everytime I go by! Strange.

Wow, I was at Shoprite last week and couldn't believe that the space that Al Fresco had was for rent. They've been in that location forever, from back when it was Pizza and Brew. Maybe his lease was up. Of course, I still remember when the space that Francesca's is in was Rockwell's.

So I shouldn't go there, right????????????????????????

      2. It belongs to the folks who used to have Pizza and Brew (and then they called it Alfresco) over by ShopRite. My son worked there as a waiter two summers ago and they tried to cheat him out of his tips. He ended up quitting and going over to the Tuscan Oven, where he did a lot better. In any event, I would not set foot in that place because if how they treated my kid - the food was always mediocre at best, so it's not a big loss. Several friends of ours have been there and they said that the food is now officially awful. That location seems to be cursed anyway. I hope they go out of business soon - and painfully.

That plave hasn't been the same since it was Rockwells (not that that was great but at least it was edible). That may have been the same owners as well, not sure.

We were there 9/19 with six 9 year old boys to celebrate a birthday before going to a kid's gym in the same strip mall. We had a 5:45 reservation, and their weren't may customers. My son siad the manager or owner who came over twice to tell the boys to lower their voices ruined his birthday. The music and tv were louder than the kids. My husband didn't like his grilled calamari, and 2 of the boys didn't like the bacon pizza. Most of the tables had children including the one next to us which had 6 children from our son's school Our waiter was fine. There was a $1.50 per plate to serve the ice cream cake we brought in. The loudest voice at our table belonged to a nephew for of unpleasant manager/owner. We won't be back, and advised the kid's gym not to bother recommending the restaurant for pizza..
