Peanut Butter Frosting
I am looking for a recipe like my grandmother use to make. She would use a yellow box cake mix but she would make this wonderful peanut butter frosting. I call it frosting, but I have no idea what she put in it. I have been looking for a recipe to make peanut butter frosting, but all I can't find one that says that you have to cook the frosting. I remember she would put the ingredients in a pot and would heat it up on the stove and then she would spread it on the cake. It was the best, so I was wondering if anyone has a recipe that would make a peanut butter cake like this. The most important step was cooking the peanut butter mixture. Any ideas?

similar to chowser... but less ingredients.. my grandma used to make kind of a peanut butter frosting.. though it is not "fluffy" like a buttercream. she used pb chips though, not actual peanut butter. I used to love the stuff, now I find it tooth achingly sweet... but here is the recipe.
:)
megan1 cu chips
1/2 cu butter
melt together in a pan
off heat, stir in 1 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk
spread while warm on cake, brownies, rice krispy treats... etc. -
This one is perfect, like the filling of Reese's Pieces:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 cup creamy peanut butter
5 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
3/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/3 cup heavy cream
Place the confectioners' sugar, peanut butter, butter, vanilla, and salt in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Mix on medium-low speed until creamy, scraping down the bowl with a rubber spatula as you work. Add the cream and beat on high speed until the mixture is light and smooth. -

I have gotten nothing but raves from this frosting. i'm taking a cake decorating class, and my instructor asked me for the recipe:
Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1/4 cup unsalted butter -- softened
1/4 cup peanut butter -- creamy
3 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk -- (2 to 4)
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanillaIn a mixer bowl, combine butter, peanut butter, sugar, salt, vanilla, and
2 Tbsp. milk. Beat well, adding more milk as needed to make a fluffy
spreadable frosting. You could add more peanut butter and then more milk
to increase the amount of frosting, or you can double.Yield:
"2 cups"
