Has anyone been to the new Original Joe's on the West Winds NE of Calgary near Superstore? What's good to eat there?

  1. haven't been to the new one, but i've frequented the marda loop location (since it's out my back door). they have decent food as far as pubs go, the fries are quite delicious, it's a decent burger. I'm trying to be good this year so i've been having the thai noodle salad, it's pretty tasty, sometimes the noodles come out too cold but that's not a terrible complaint. I've also had the rustica pizza and it was very good as well. the boy had the ribs once and seemed to enjoy them...

My last two visits to OJ's, one on 4th and one in Kensington, were both very bad. I'm not giving them any more chances.

i had terrible food at the kensington one, i'll never go back there. the one in marda loop is fairly consistent as far as food qualilty but sometimes the wait for lunch is very long....

    2. I've had mixed results with OJ's. I'm at the 4th St location every monday night for drinks and have been going for the last 3 years or so. Food is predictable, but has some high points and low points. I'd recommend the burger, the grilled chicken sandwich is pretty good, steak sandwich is okay, and I'm tempted to try the 16oz porterhouse, but that can't be very fresh. I'd suggest to stick with anything that's in the pub style, as it's usually pretty good.

Food is much better than some of the other bars/pubs in Calgary.

I always get the burger and sweet potato fries. Yum! I agree with Bobatt - better than average pub food but nothing to write home about. Except maybe the sweet potato fries - love 'em.

Love sweet potato fries from OJ.

      2. I was there tonight and the food is awesome. Their sweet potato fries are probably some of the best I have ever had but the service was horrible. A change of staff and they might actually have some customers. We asked if they could turn the music down a little as it was really loud and the waitress told us they were getting complaints from old people.... considering there couldn't have been more than 15 people in there at the time I would have though maybe they might have turned it down a little but her reply was it was a bar so they were leaving it were it was. Since they had had 3 other complaints and that meant every table had complained I would have thought maybe they might have made a little effort to do something to keep customers but the waitress was just downright rude.

Needless to say we left after we ate like everyone else in there.

I was in the NE location a couple of months ago. Food was terible and service was even worse whenI spoke with the the manager I was told that was the way it was and he would do nothing about it.
I was at the location in Red Deer previously and really enjoyed the food. This was the olny reason I tried it again.

Yes, I have been to the Red Deer one as well. Pretty decent there.
