Buttercream frosting recipe....

The bakery/party store near me makes the best sugar sweet buttercream frosting. I'd like to make my own from scratch (since they won't sell me just the frosting!). Any ideas where to start?

There are many different types of buttercream but if you're looking for a simple one, the Magnolia Bakery buttercream is good:

I made the Magnolia buttercream frosting a couple of days ago for cupcakes and my husband liked it so much he ate all the frosting and left the bare cupcake!

Ms. Clique, funny story! I have a teenage daughter who loves to get in the kitchen with the KitchenAid mixer and her friends. They stopped making the cupcake batter, now they only make the buttercream frosting and eat it with spoons (somehow they have convinced themselves it is LOW CARB without the cake!)

My sister and I were convinced that a pan of fudge had no calories if we ate the whole thing before our parents got home. I totally agree with your daughter's logic.

Start with Wilton. I use their basic buttercream (it's the second one on the list) using Crisco instead of butter (that's the old school Wilton method, listed at the bottom). It makes perfect buttercream every time.

Krissywats buttercream is great...I don't have time to find it but it's on this site!
