I have a 1/2 cup of heavy cream left over from making a ganache last weekend. What should I do with it?
I'm open to desserts and main dishes. Something pretty simple would be preferable.
It makes a good creamy cole slaw: add a little sugar, cider vinegar, celery seed & salt. Mix well - it becomes light and slightly foamy.
(edit) with cabbage of course!
If you eat breakfast cereals, spike it with some of the cream. It will make you happy.
For main dishes, an Alfredo sauce with pasta begs for cream. Berries and cream are a given, but with most berries being out of season, you can use warmed cream as a welcome garnish for just about any cake/British pudding, or fruit pie dessert.
How about a nice potato or other vegetable gratin. Declicious and easy.
Or a smothered chicken skillet.
Sauce for steak au poivre. You just need some shallots, beef or veal stock, brandy or cognac, peppercorns, butter and cream.
