Just discovered that Restaurant Week Boston starts in a few days and I was wondering about trying it out. I'd love to hear about some experiences people have had- does the food get downgraded because of the prices and increased volume? How about L'Espalier? I'm dying to go there before they move but there's absolutely no way I could afford it otherwise (as a passionate but poor college student). Any feedback would be appreciated!
In all honesty, if you're just thinking about restaurant week, you're going to have a very hard time getting a reservation at a place like L'Espalier... or any of the better options to be honest. I'd recommend making reservations during the week (not weekend) and be willing to eat at either 5pm or 9pm (or later).
I was able to snag a reservation to Icarus on Monday at 6:15 earlier this week, but any of the solid options I tried had little to no availability.
If L'espalier has a $25 prix fixe lunch everyday, just go for that option. Not much of a difference in price from restaurant week!
