Best ever chicken (noodle) soup?

I've recently decided that the Pho Ga (chicken noodle soup) at Nha Trang Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown is my favorite chicken soup in all NY. I know it's not the trad version, but its flippin awesome and has the same comforting, soul-warming effect of Second Ave Deli's.

Any other suggestions?

  1. PS. The chicken noodle soup that Fresh direct delivers is BAD. Wholefoods is pretty darn good though.

I agree--the chicken soup at Whole Foods is very tasty. But one caveat. It is not chicken noodle soup because it doesn't have noodles. That is a good thing because the noodles would get mushy.

    2. The chicken noodle at New Chiu Chow on Mott Street is wonderful!!! You can have wontons added if you prefer, either in place of or in addition to, the noodles.

Try the chicken soup at the counter in the restaurant in the Hotel Edison.

      2. I like the chicken noodle they sell at Fairway -- it has a good strong broth, lots of carrot, egg noodles and large-ish pieces of chicken. It's not the weak broth and tasteless noodles that you get other places.

The chicken soup they sell at Murray's Sturgeon is delicious.

        2. I will tell you that the WORST "fresh" chicken broth I ever bought was the flavorless, overpriced stuff from Eli's on the East Side.

second Hotel Edison....also try the matzah ball soup

          2. Has anyone tried the Chicken soup at the new 2nd AVe deli? It used to be wonderful in it's old location.

It is quite clear, but I feel weaker and more flavorless than Sarge's. Never been to the old 2nd Ave Deli so I can't compare the before and after.
