Yeah, it looks really good. Any thoughts on the sides issue?

Was just there last week for the first time.

For apps, I found the Pumpkin Gnocchi, off the specials menu, to be pretty disappointing. But the Roasted Tomato & Pepper Soup with Goat Cheese Monte Cristo was quite good. That Monte Cristo is huge and great for dipping.

And now I can't for the life of me remember what my friend had for an entree. I had the Boar and I'll say this, the meat itself was spectacular. And lots of it. But the brussels sprouts, potato spaetzle and violet mustard sauce that went with it left me pretty cold.

That's unfortunate because those sides were part of the appeal for me. Are you a fan of such things generally? That is, was it the execution or more your preference?

I'm not a huge Brussels Sprouts fan, but they seemed to be well done. The spaetzle is something I might have loved, but frankly, on my plate, I found the sauce to be almost non-existent (didn't think of it at the time) so after a couple of boring dry spaetzle bites, I just shifted all of my focus back to the boar.

I really love the boar, and for me the sides that come with it are just perfect. I'd give it a shot! I really enjoyed the Thai soup last time I was there too.

Be sure to leave room for the donuts for dessert -- as I remember, the sides and apps are wonderful. Go and enjoy, unless you're a Chef and/or highly particular, you're gonna have a great meal.

Well, if you're going tonight (Wednesday) ... it's doughnut night!

            So save room.

Another vote for the boar. Also get the pork belly appetizer.
