Bday dinner for 20 in Hollywood/Weho? Moun of Tunis?

  • 4

Can anyone recommend a great place for a large group for my 27th birthday that is not outrageously expensive and a little off the beaten path. I currently have a ressie at Moun of Tunis. Does anyone have an experience (good or bad) there? Please help!

  1. Ugh...not a fan of the Moun of Tunis. My friend had a party of 15 there for her birthday. The food was just okay. The worst part was the atmosphere. It was so dark and just felt dirty. Half of the guests had to sit on the backless part of the banquette or on stools. Was very uncomfortable!

    1. I like Moun of Tunis, but smfoodie raises a good point with the atmosphere: the food, while decent, isn't going to WOW enough to distract away from the atmosphere. (Though I'm okay with the b'stilla.)

But that being said, I enjoy that atmosphere. A little on the dimly lit side, it kinda does have an opium den feel to it, I guess.

If you're talking bistella, have you tried Tagine? The food is really good (although I am dissappointed I didn't get to see owner Ryan Gosling). Wouldn't recommend it for a large party as they are not set up that way.

      2. I've only been there once, but I liked the food. As far as the atmosphere, I fall in the enjoy category, but I can see how it could set off alarm bells for some people.
