Di Fara's for Lunch on a Wednesday

Hello all,

I know there are oodles of posts on Chowhound about this place. Long lines, crazy waits, plus everyone butts in line pretending to be a special friend of the pizza man. Regardless, how crazy do you think it will be at lunch, on a Wednesday? I hope to (gasp) order a whole pie!!! Will it take hours??
Thanks!

You're only asking for trouble if you go to DiFara's during prime time.

But what's prime time? It seems like there is no real formula.

I'd say Fri, Sat, Sun at dinner time. Wednesdays were the day that I went every week before going to London for university. Never waited more than 30 minutes and that would be at dinner time. Usually more like 15.

It should take about 15-20 mins if you time it right.

I went after jury duty once -- a monday or a tuesday at around 5 and I was in and out in about 20 minutes -- had a slice while I was waiting for the pie.

Also have gone during prime time and was there 90 minutes or so.

I went on a Saturday at 2pm and waited 45 minutes for the pizza, doable and worth it. Avoid prime times, so like someone said, get there before noon or wait till 2-3pm.

You'll do best if you arrive around 11:30-11:45, when he opens the place...midweek early lunch is usually pretty good, in my experience.

It took my friend and me an hour and 20 minutes just to get to the front of the line, which can't be blamed on our ineptitude at ordering. It can, however, be blamed on our stupidity in showing up at 6pm on a Saturday... pretty damn good pizza though.
