One meal Wed Nobu, Providence, or Sasabune

DC Hound here...Looking for a place to eat during my one night in LA with my fiancee. I am deciding between the the brand new Nobu on La Cienega, the 5 course tasting at Providence or omakase at sushi Sasabune. I originally wanted to try Sasabune, but I feel like I would like to be at a restaurant with a better decor or atmosphere. What do you think hounds?

The "new" Nobu Grand Opening is on March 5: It is booked SOLID for 3 weeks (minimum) currently. Unless of course, you're a Senator, or the Peruvian Ambassador...

    Providence would be my pick.

I gotta agree with the other posters here, Sasabune is surely not the best meal to be had in LA.

Tasting menu at Providence. Maybe even sit at the Chef's table for a real treat.

Sasabune is good but as almost anyone here would agree there are at least seven or eight places in LA that are objectively better than Sasabune.

You probably won't be able to get into Nobu LA because it's opening night. And if you could, that must mean you're a celebrity, and if so, you're probably rich, so I would do Urasawa and save Nobu LA for another visit.

i haven't been to the new nobu but i imagine it would be mucho better than sasabune... sasabune, while good compared to many sushi restaurants, still isn't stellar and most def not the atmosphere. providence is small and nice..

For the love of god, don't do Sasabune. It's good quality fish, yes, but it's schlopped on the plate, the rice falls apart if you touch it; it's assembly-lined good fish. And hand rolls are pre-made so that the nori is all soggy.
At Providence you'll have a delicious meal, beautiful setting, perfect wine pairings, excellent service.
Don't know about Nobu since they open tomorrow, plus I haven't been to any Nobu's, just not high on my list.
