Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx

Downtown Brooklyn lunch places...

....are there any good Indian or Thai places that someone could recommend? Thanks in advance.

  1. There is no good Indian or Thai to speak of, at least not in Downtown Brooklyn. The walk down to Atlantic for Middle Eastern--Waterfalls, Yemen Cafe--is your best bet. There's also a Nicky's for Vietnamese banh mi just east of Smith on Atlantic. If you're ordering in, I think EmThai down on Smith is the best of the lot for Thai but I don't think they'd deliver all the way up to downtown.

ghang thai on smith is enjoyable, as is joya on court. you're right that they are not spectacular, but tasty standard inexpensive thai, to be sure.

also - amin the indian on montague is similar in my head -order from there when i have an indian craving, and it satisfied that need, but doesn't go terribly far beyond.

Minor note: Joya is not open for lunch.
