Good place for MUTTON?

Where is a good mutton dish found in NYC?

We prefer to stay downtownish.

    Does Keens on 36th St. count as downtownish? I've not eaten there but much has been written about their mutton chop.


    However, as noted in the foregoing thread, it's not actually mutton.

      I'm with the rest, Keens has great mutton.

        Just a reminder, folks, that the mutton chop at Keen's isn't really mutton. It's a chop cut from the saddle of a lamb. It's great. Just had it a couple of weeks ago. But it's not mutton.

        I had mutton at Blue Hill Stone Barns in the fall, and it was wonderful. I wonder if Blue Hill in the city serves it--if not on the regular menu, then upon request. We received the mutton at BHSB when we let our server know that we were adventurous eaters.

          I have had the mutton chop at Keen's. It's sublime, and the atmosphere is enjoyable and low key.

          we went to KEENS recently and i had the mutton chop -- here's my review. thumb's up:
