  1. Got same info by e-mail a month or so ago. Pity. More useful than restaurant guide in my opinion.

      Drat.

      1. Excuse me, but "postponed indefinitely"? Like what, until 2002 rolls around again?

        1. It's about time!

          1. Gee. Now how I'm supposed to know which SoupPlantation/Olive Garden to bring my out of town guests to?

If I'm not mistaken, The Marketplace guide (blue cover) was not a restaurant guide like the traditional guide. It was a very utilitarian guide to ethnic markets, bakeries, butchers, local gourmet shops etc. Some people on this board found it extremely helpful, and 100% more useful than the traditional restaurant guide (burgundy cover).

It looks like they are concentrating on nightlife guides. Just got an email on one for the Bay area.

Nightlife? Those Zagat's are one swingin' family!

            2. Good news. I just received my Chowhound LA Marketplace Guide. One entry: Surfas.
