Heading to S. Yarmouth this weekend. What's open and good this time of year?

Looking for family friendly fare, near S. Yarmouth or towards (or in) Chatham.

Also, are any of the ice cream places open in Chatham or Orleans?

Thanks!

I don;t know about Chatham but Sundae School Ice Cream on Lower County Road in Dennisport is open, as is the Cape Creamery in South Yarmouth. Both are very good. Brennan's in downtown Dennisport and The Lost Dog Pub on 134 in South Dennis serve family friendly, good food and both are favorites of locals..

People always talk about cream n' cone, never been there- worth it? or just hype?

The fried clams, fried shrimp and onion rings are awesome. Cream n' cone is a place I always try to hit for a bad-for-you-but-oh-so good fix.

The Lost Dog had a fire some time ago - not sure if they are open. Even so, just a very average place - plenty of other places to choose from that serve better food.

why not try Gina's by the Sea at Chapin Beach. It's a fun reliable spot.

The Riverway has good thin crust brick oven pizza and I bring my two little ones all the time, they are nice to the kids and have comfy booths.

I had no idea Riverway had a brick oven!! Incredible..I always think of that place as a senior citizen spot.

It was but they changed owners and I love it now- it was scary before, thought the roof was going to fall on my head

I've now heard from several people that work at the Yarmouth house that people would be amazed at how dirty the kitchen is- I don't think I'll be goin back

Unless you like Papa Gino's, I'd head into Hyannis and go to Palio's on Main Street. Great pizza from a young fellow who's parents own a pizza shop in Sienna Italy. Too early for Ice Cream.........

I found this place for you. They are opening on the 4th of March.Am sending web site. (http://www.oliverscapecod.biz/) This is another place I found for you that says they are open year round, (http://www.pier4.com/) They have 3 locations, click on the cape one. Good luck and i hope these help you in your quest to find a place open for food. Earle Ct.

Winedude...no offense to Earle, who is only trying to help, but avoid his two recs. as they are truly awful. There are many places open. It's not like the old days where everyone closes at Labor Day. It's the 'family friendly' requirement that limits your choices as they tend not to be chowish places, that is, nothing to rave about. Place like Captain Parkers Pub or Hearth and Kettle in So. Yarmouth. Eh,,,,not so great, but they won't kill you!

2 thoughts.....Vinings Bistro is good if in Chatham. Or go to Osterville to Wimpy's for pretty darn good family fare.
