Baltimore: Good Chinese takeout/delivery
looking for recommendations for good Chinese take out and/or delivery. (delivers to the Charles village area). I'm hoping something new has popped up/missed my radar because I'm disappointed in the offerings lately. We typically order delivery from Asian Taste in Hampden-nice people but the flavors are often bland. If we pick it up we typically go to Cafe Zen, I like this place but want to see if there are other options.
Other places we have tried;
Can't stand Orient Express(st.paul)-sloppy food.
Paul Chens (st.paul)- use to order from there haven't in a long time. just OK

I know this sounds crazy, but we're actually quite fond of Pacific Carryout in Mount Vernon. They do deliver to Charles Village. It's the best Chinese food I've had in Baltimore and has the virtue of being next to the Baskin Robbins (and the bail bonds place, come to think about it) :)

They're the same restaurant, LOL. I meant to say Yungs. Honestly I was beginning to despair over the Chinese food in Baltimore after moving to Mount Vernon from Chicago until I found Yung's :) My husband calls it "The bail bonds Chinese place" - Pacific Carryout also does a good Philly cheesesteak. They also never seem to close.

I live in Charles Village and the ONLY place for decent Chinese is Paul Chen's Hong Kong Restaurant (2426 North Charles Street-across from the Safeway). It's not incredible Chinese, but it's quite decent and definitely a cut above the average carry out place, especially in Baltimore. You can eat-in, carry-out, or they deliver.

Joey Chiu's in Greenspring Station has good food. They don't deliver to Charles village, but the trip up I-83 JFX can be short if you don't go at rush hour.
I've heard some good thinks about No.1 Chinese Kitchen at Roland and 40 St., but not tried it personally. They do deliver- it might be worth a try.›5 Replies-

re: tartuffe
This is Lutherville but Szechuan House on Seminary Ave has always been good. As far as Joey Chiu's goes, I don't think it's all that spectacular. Maybe because I've worked across the street and have OD'd on Joey Chiu's in the last 11 years! They DO have an awesome Sunday brunch.
Trencher man: Is that the same place that was formerly some sort of Chinese & sushi buffet a while back?

I've grown to really like Jumbo Seafood in Pikesville. Nothing earth-shattering, but very solid Chinese-American food. (It's the chinese restaurant in Baltimore that most reminds me of what we ate growing up in Rockville, where it seemed like every Chinese restaurant was better-than-average.) They don't deliver and they're a bit of a hike, but it's not much farther time-wise than Cafe Zen and I think the food is vastly superior.
