Breading or No Breading: Where can I find them?
I really have very little experience in this regard, but... The wife just had crab cakes at Clancy's Seafood Broiler in Glendale this week and she loved them. Now to qualify that statement:
Many moons ago, before the wife was the wife, and before the future wife received my attentions, her idea of a good meal was a hot dog and fries, washed down by a coke.
Now all these many years later, I have had ample opportunity to introduce the wife to a greater array of dining experiences, than Der Weinerschnitzl. I have her eating real food now, and Italian and Chinese and Mexican, from real restaurants, not fast food joints. Sadly, however, she still is turned off by any meat that isn't black through and through.
So understanding where the wife is coming from, in terms of dining appreciation, take my statement that the wife loved Clancy's crab cakes with a grain of salt.
The best existing restaurants in LA where I've had crab cakes are The Ivy (both) (large) and Shiro (small and not always on the menu).
