I googled "mabodon" to find out what it is, and I am still a bit confused. According to one blogger, it can be made by pouring ma po tofu over a bowl of rice, and another web site showed a picture of it, and it did indeed look like that very thing. But mabodon is apparently served at Japanese restaurants, while ma po tofu is Chinese. Most semi-authentic Chinese restaurants in this area server ma po tofu (spelled many different ways), whether or not it appears on their printed menus; some are obviously better than others, so if that would satisfy your craving you can go that route. I don't know if any local Japanese restaurants have mabodon on their menus, but I would happily eat some right now for breakfast if I had it!
