During the morning and afternoon when I check in to Chowhound see what's new, all is well. Late afternoon and evening, I get a message across the top of my screen saying that I need plugins to see all media that's available on the page.

I'm using firefox 2.0.0.12. I wonder why the message only appears in the evening (I'm located in northern California and using Mac OS X version 10.4.11.) Do I need these plugins? Will I harm my (elderly) iMac by downloading them?

Does it say what plugins specifically? The video and some of the ads use Flash, so it might be prompting you to upgrade your flash player.

Tonight I'm not seeing any plugin messages...will keep a log when I see them again...I suspect it was for a video ad, but really can't remember!
