Brunch near La Mirada?
Hi there -
We're going to the Quilt show in La Mirada this coming Saturday - any recomendations for a "brunch" (any style) that will be open / serving on Saturday before lunchtime?
Coffee shop food is OK, as is Mexican food - prefer someplace to sit down (inside).
Many thanks,
So Ho La

We ended up at Cilantro's - it was wonderful. The fresh tortillas made up front were great. And it's not like there weren't dozen of other options in Whittier! But we were very happy with Cilantro's and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for 'good Mexican food' - delicious, reasonably priced etc. And the cucumber lemonade was amazing. Many thanks for the suggestion!

Well, it's nothing fancy, but The Carriage is a coffee shop on Imperial, close to La Mirada Blvd. Your basic omelettes, griddle, etc. However, I don't know why this bothers me so much but for some reason they don't have a french toast combo. Pancake yes, waffle yes, but if you want eggs and bacon with your french toast, it's ala carte.

I've mentioned this place enough, but I'll do it again. I like Cilantro's at Whittier at 16533 Whittier Blvd. It's actually at the border between Whittier and La Habra.
Breakfast from 8:30AM-1PM on Sat and Sunday with fresh corn tortillas and mexican coffee. You can get any of the egg dishes, or just order any normal mexican food (burritos, tacos, sopes, etc.) The place is casual, plenty of seating. You pay for the food and they bring it over to your table.
If you want to spend a lot more, the other good brunch place I know of is Taps at Brea. Or depending where you come from, maybe Rowland Heights can be in your way and you can do dim sum at 10AM at Happy Harbour.
